The Witcher 3 Xbox Series X|S version could launch today, according to PEGI rating

By Sean Carey,

The Xbox Series X|S version of the The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt could be launching today if a new rating from PEGI is to be believed.

As spotted by Gematsu, a listing from the PEGI rating board for The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt – Game of the Year Edition was recently updated to include release dates and platforms for the Xbox Series X|S and PS5 versions of the game. They have both been listed with a release date of today (October 19th).

It seems a little odd that the Xbox Series X|S port of The Witcher 3 would release today without any prior announcement from CD Projekt Red. Just last month, CD Projekt’s Michał Nowakowski told investors that the company couldn’t make any guarantees that the Series X|S version of The Witcher 3 would launch this year.

It’s possible that this listing from PEGI is simply a mistake or that The Witcher 3 was due to launch today, but CD Projekt missed its intended release date with the port and the rating has gone live anyway. Whatever the case may be, we’ll likely hear more on this soon.

Announced this time last year, this upgraded version of The Witcher 3 comes with both the Blood and Wine and Hearts of Stone expansions, as well as all other DLC packs that came to the game, and will feature visual improvements such as ray tracing and faster loading times, thanks to the Xbox Series X|S SSD. Those who own The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt (this includes both the standard edition and the Game of The Year Edition) on Xbox One will get a free Xbox Series X|S version when it launches.
